Hello:I'm having an issue where any program (.dmg) I attempt to download will not install. I get an error stating that the disk image cannot be opened and that the 'file or folder' cannot be found. I've googled the issue and have learned that most people recommend attempting the download with a different browser.
Doing so has been unsuccessful. Also unsuccessful has been redownloading the DMG, as well as doing so after a system restart.
The resulting error message is the same for all programs attempted for download, except programs downloaded and installed through the app store or by using home-brew or GIT in terminal.Alternatively, I get an error that states that the.DMG cannot be opened because it has 'no mountable file system.' Attempts to remedy the situation using Disk Utility have been unsuccessful, and the permissions on my HD are good.I want to reinstall OS X 10.11 without deleting my system content. I do NOT want to wipe the hard drive in order to reinstall OS X 10.11. I do not have time capsule or any other backup storage. When I attempt to reinstall using internet recovery mode, I get an error that OS X Mountain Lion, this computer's original OS X version, cannot be installed because a newer version of OS X is already installed.
I know from experience I'll get the same error if I create an install medium for OS X 10.11.I'm trying to find some form of scanning tool or application which does a full system check and corrects any system data that I may have messed with thereby causing the issue. I'm unable to find one, and the Install OS X El Capitan application does not appear to have that functionality.Any ideas on how to remedy the issue? You might try booting into the recovery partition and then opening up disk utility from there and letting it correct/repair the permissions on the volume. If your original checks with disk utility were done from the booted system it won't be able to check/repair everything because the system is 'live'.
Some time ago you used to be able to re-install an OS right over an existing install without re-formatting the drive. If that can still be done, you might be able to do that, but I haven't seen that option lately so I don't know what will and won't be destroyed.Personally if it was me I'd get a backup made ASAP in case it turns out to be some type of hardware issue. You could also split a partition on a new backup drive and then let do an OS install onto one of those partitions, which should at least give you access to the stuff on the other drive. I have not been able to use DP since the 2.0.6 update; every time I open up the mac file, I get a message stating: no mountable file systems. This also goes for the newest update 2.0.7.I have already re-downloaded the files more than once, I restarted the desktop and I updated the software but I still receive the same message. I was then told that I'm not the only person experiencing this and that the file may be the problem, not the comp. I'm aware of how bad macs are, I can attest to using one (but I have no choice).Just wanted to see if there was anything up about it and if not, what can I do to help fix this?
Not an experienced mac user either. Thanks for reporting! You're the first one to notify me of this problem. The DMG opens on my macbook, but I noticed I had built it using an older version of Qt.Between versions 2.0.5 and 2.0.6, I updated my macbook to High Sierra and the Qt version from 5.7 to 5.10.

Those are the first things that I can think of that might have any effect.I rebuilt the package with the latest version and uploaded it here:Does the new version work better? If it doesn't can you check if the file has been corrupted during download by running shasum on it? The expected value is: 5c7f220cab5d71a6b3245304c8d904c7f175d3a3 Drawpile 2.0.7.1.dmg.
I understand the problem now. You're using High Sierra, I'm currently on El Capitan 10.11.6. For the other mac users I've spoken to, the file also doesn't work for them and they also use El Capitan.I can't upgrade to High Sierra (the others can) so it may not be necessary to do anything to the file just for one or two people to be able to use it.As for running shasum on it, I don't know how to do that but I doubt that the file itself is corrupted (perhaps you can show me?). Aye man, I'm just yabadabadoing my best on this dino craputer.
